On the top of the list of the people we are thankful for are the wonderful men and women who are dedicated to caring for the horses we all love. To offer a small token of our appreciation, the Florida HBPA hosted Thanksgiving Dinner at Palm Meadows and Gulfstream Park on Tuesday, Nov. 23, serving more than 500 meals with all the traditional fixings.
“The members of our Backstretch Community work so hard and do such a great job,” said FHBPA Special Projects Coordinator Herb Oster. “At this time of year, we want to take a moment to acknowledge their vital contribution to the racing industry here and around the country. We also give special thanks to Father Tom and his team, for making these events possible.
“We are already planning our Christmas celebration for the backstretch,” he added. “A lot of the focus will be on the children, with a bounce house, petting zoo and pony rides and, of course, lots of toys. We hope it will be something the workers and their families will really enjoy.”
