Former Florida HBPA Vice President, Tim Ritvo, Hired by MID

By Kent H. Stirling, FHBPA Executive Director

This spring MI Developments (MID) picked up most of the bankrupt Magna Entertainment Corporation (MEC) properties.  The Chairman of both companies was and is Frank Stronach.

In November of 2000, Stronach tapped the then Florida HBPA President, Scott Savin, to be President and General Manager of Gulfstream Park.  Scott served in that capacity for MEC until 2006, making him one of the longest tenured employees at any of Frank Stronach’s race tracks.

In October of 2010, Frank Stronach again tapped a Florida HBPA board member to work for the new MID.  This time he chose Florida HBPA Vice President, Tim Ritvo.  Tim who trained strings of horses at both Calder and Belmont was made the Vice President of Racing, East Coast for MID.

Tim’s horses will now be trained by his wife, Kathy.

We wish Tim the best of luck in his new endeavor.
